From "Tweezer Fatigue" to Inner Corner Pro: A Student Success Story

There is a specific moment during our IDOH-approved lash certification where everything usually "clicks," but getting there isn't always a straight line. This week, I had a student who hit a hurdle many of you know all too well: the dreaded dominant-hand inner corners.

The "Inner Corner" Battle

When you’re working on the side of the face that matches your dominant hand, the angle for inner corners can feel impossible. My student was struggling to get the right isolation without her hand getting in the way of her own light.

Instead of just telling her to "try harder," we went back to the basics of ergonomics. We spent time adjusting her lash tile placement and her own seating height. Sometimes, the fix isn't your hands—it’s your posture!

Overcoming "Adhesive Anxiety"

One of her biggest fears was overdoing the adhesive on classic lashes. It’s a common fear for beginners—nobody wants "stickies" or clumpy bases.

The Solution: We focused on the "dip and drag" technique.

The Result: Once she saw that a tiny, controlled amount of adhesive provides a stronger, cleaner bond than a giant drop, her confidence skyrocketed.

The Great Tweezer Trial

Finding "the one" is a rite of passage for every lash artist. This student didn't just try one pair; she alternated between all 5 sets of tweezers in her kit.

"I wanted her to feel the difference in tension and 'sweet spots' for herself."

By Day 4, she found the pair that felt like an extension of her own hand. Seeing her go from switching tools every five minutes to confidently mapping out a set was the highlight of my week.

What’s Next?

She walked away not just with a certificate, but with the muscle memory needed to tackle those tricky inner corners. If you’ve been nervous about starting your journey because you think you’re "clumsy" with tools—don't be. We find the tools and the techniques that work for your hands.
